중국의 해양 조사선 두 척이 일본과의 영유권 분쟁 해역에 들어가 떠나기를 거부하자 일본 정부가 중국측에 정식으로 항의했다고 일본 관리가 밝혔습니다.
일본 해상보안본부는 일본에서 센카쿠, 중국에서 다오위다오로 불리는 열도 주변 해역에 들어온 이들 중국 선박에 떠날 것을 요구했지만 중국 선박들이 이를 거부했습니다.
중국 정부는 일본측의 항의를 받고 사실 관계를 확인하고 있다고 말했다고 일본 외무성 관리들이 밝혔습니다.
일본의 가와무라 다케오 관방장관은 중국 선박의 이 같은 행동은 매우 유감스러운 일이라며 이들 선박을 문제의 해역에서 퇴각시킬 것을 중국 정부에 요구했다고 말했습니다.
중국 정부는 이번 사건에 대해 공식 논평을 내놓지 않고 있습니다.
A Japanese official says Tokyo lodged a protest with Beijing today (Monday)after two Chinese survey ships entered disputed waters and refused to leave.
Japan's coast guard urged the ships to leave waters surrounding the Japan-held islands - known as the Senkaku in Japan, and the Diaoyu in China - but the vessels did not leave.
Japanese Foreign Ministry officials said Beijing responded to the protest by saying it was checking the facts.
Japan's chief Cabinet secretary, Takeo Kawamura, told reporters the actions of the Chinese ships were "extremely regrettable," and said the Chinese government had been urged to remove the ships.
China has not publicly commented on the incident.
