중국의 후진타오 국가 주석은 전 세계 경기 후퇴로 인해 중국의 국가 경쟁력이 떨어지기 시작했다고 경고했습니다.
중국의 관영 언론은 후 주석이 29일 열린 정치국 모임에서 이 같이 경고했다고 보도했습니다. 후 주석은 중국 제품에 대한 외부 수요가 줄어들어 중국 회사들이 근로자들을 해임시키도록 만들고 있다고 말했습니다.
후진타오 국가주석은 또한 경기 후퇴로 인한 위기 사태는 집권 당의 통치력을 시험하도록 만들 것이라고 말했습니다.
후 주석의 이 같은 경고는 지난 주 중국의 경제 성장은 거의 20년 만의 최저율로 더디게 성장을 할 것이라고 세계 은행이 예측한 전망을 뒷받침하고 있습니다.

Chinese President Hu Jintao says his country has begun losing its competitive edge in trade during the global economic downturn.
Chinese state media say Mr. Hu delivered the warning Saturday in an address to the communist government's powerful Politburo. He said reduced external demand for Chinese goods is forcing Chinese companies to fire workers. The country has seen a rash of recent protests over factory closures.
The president also said the crisis posed by the economic meltdown will, in his words, "test our party's capacity to govern."
Mr. Hu's warning echoes that of the World Bank, which said last week it expects China's economic growth to slow to its lowest rate in nearly two decades. The bank cut its 2009 growth forecast for China to seven-point-five percent -- nearly two percentage points lower than predicted earlier this year.
