Public support for Japan Prime Minister Taro Aso's government has plunged to below 30 percent, after his economic rescue plan failed to impress voters.
Prime Minister Aso pushed through a 300 billion-dollar stimulus package, of which a main pillar was cash hand-outs - about 120 dollars per working-age person, and even more for the children and the elderly.
But public opinion poll results indicate the move was not popular, with about 60 percent of respondents saying they did not support it.
