국제통화기금 IMF는 6일 세계 경제가 심각한 금융 위기로 분투하면서, 내년도 인도 경제성장도 기대했던 것보다 더딜 것이라고 전망했습니다.
이 날 발표된 보고서에서 국제통화기금은 내년 인도경제가 약 6.3 퍼센트 성장할 것이라고 전망했습니다. 이는 앞서 전망한 것보다 0.6 퍼센트 떨어진 수치입니다.
2006년 거의 10 퍼센트 성장을 경험한 인도 경제는 그 이후에 성장세가 조금씩 줄어들었습니다.
이와 관련해 이주 초, 인도의 만모한 싱 총리는 세계 경제위기로부터 인도 경제를 보호하기 위해 조치를 더 취하겠다고 밝혔습니다.
현재 인도의 중앙 은행은 자금 대출을 장려하고 경제가 계속 움직일 수 있도록 하기 위해 주요 금리를 인하했습니다. 싱 총리는 또한 충분한 자금을 확보할 수 있도록 사회하부구조 건설 계획을 검토한다는 계획도 발표했습니다.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) says India's economy likely will grow slower than expected next year as the world struggles with a severe financial crisis.
In a report released today (Thursday), the IMF says it expects India's economy to grow about six-point-three percent next year, down six-tenths of a point from earlier forecasts.
India's economy grew by nearly 10 percent in 2006, and has experienced a slow yet steady decline in annual growth since then.
Earlier this week, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh pledged to take more action to protect the country's emerging economy from the global financial crisis.
India's central bank has cut key interest rates to encourage money lending and keep the economy running. Mr. Singh also has announced plans to review infrastructure projects to ensure they have enough money for completion.
