파키스탄 국방장관은 미국의 데이비드 퍼트레이어스 장군을 만난 자리에서, 파키스탄 영토에 대한 미국의 미사일 공습 의혹이 반미 긴장을 더욱 악화시킬 위험이 있다고 경고했다고, 파키스탄 측이 밝혔습니다.
초드리 아흐마드 무크타르 장관은 오늘(3일) 이슬라마바드에서 퍼트레이어스 장군과 리차드 바우처 미 국무부 남아시아 담당 차관보를 만나 그같은 문제와 함께 파키스탄 군사 작전에 대해 논의했습니다.
파키스탄은 미사일 공습이 주권 침해라고 주장하고 있습니다.
퍼트레이어스 장군은 중동과 중부 아시아를 총괄하는 중부사령관에 임명된 지 며칠 만에 첫 해외 방문국으로 파키스탄을 방문했습니다.
Pakistan says its defense minister
has warned U.S. General David Petraeus that suspected U.S. missile strikes on
Pakistani territory run the risk of inflaming anti-American tensions.
Defense Minister Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar discussed the subject, as well as
Pakistani military operations, with the U.S. general and with U.S. Assistant
Secretary of State Richard Boucher in Islamabad today (Monday).
Pakistan says the missile strikes are a violation of its sovereignty.
Petraeus arrived in Pakistan on Sunday -- his first foreign trip since he took
over as the head of all U.S. military operations in the Middle East and Central
Asia several days ago.
Pakistan's "Dawn" newspaper reports the Americans are also scheduled
to meet with the chief of Pakistan's army staff (General Ashfaq Parvez
Kayani)and likely will meet with President Asif Ali Zardari during this
trip.
Petraeus previously served as the head of the U.S. military mission in Iraq. In
his new role, he will oversee that mission, as well as operations in
Afghanistan.
