이란이 페르시아만 입구의 전략상 요충지인 호르무즈 해협 동부 지역에 새로운 해군 기지를 구축했다고 이란 국영 라디오가 28일 보도했습니다.
이란 국영 라디오는 하비볼라 사이야리 해군 사령관의 말을 인용해 이같이 전하고 재스크 지역에 위치한 새 기지가 이란의 새로운 방어망을 형성하게 될 것이라고 덧붙였습니다.
사이야리 사령관은 새 해군 기지가 필요할 경우 적들의 페르시아만 진입을 저지할 수 있을 것이라고 밝혔습니다.
세계 원유 수송량의 40퍼센트가 이란과 아라비아 반도를 가르는 호르무즈 해협을 통과합니다.
이란은 종전에도 이란의 핵 개발과 관련, 이란이 공격당할 경우 호르무즈 해협을 봉쇄할 것이라고 경고했었습니다.*****
Iranian media say that Iran has established a new naval base at the entrance to the Persian Gulf, east of the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
The (Voice of the Islamic Republic of Iran) radioreport today (Tuesday)quotes a Navy commander (Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari) as saying the base in the town of Jask creates a new line of defense in the region.
The commander also says Iran's military is able to prevent any so-called enemy from entering the Persian Gulf, if such action is required.
About 40 percent of the world's oil passes through the Strait of Hormuz, which separates Iran from the Arabian Peninsula.
In the past, Iran has threatened to block the strait if it faces any attack because of its nuclear program.
