세계은행과 프랑스가 중국에서 올해 초 대규모 지진으로 황폐화된 지역들의 재건을 위해 9억 달러 상당을 빌려주기로 합의했다고 중국 관영 신화통신이 보도했습니다.
신화통신은 지난 5월 12일 강진으로 가장 피해가 심한 중국 서남부 쓰촨 성에서 열린 한 투자 회의에서 이 같은 대부금액이 발표됐다고 전했습니다.
신화통신은 세계은행이 쓰촨성과 이웃 간쑤성의 도로와 교량, 병원들의 재건을 위해 7억 천만 달러를 대부해주고 프랑스의 개발청이 도시내 사회 기반시설과 시골 주택들의 재건을 위해 2억 달러 상당을 융자해주기로 동의했다고 보도했습니다.
중국에서는 지난 5월의 강진으로 거의 7만 명이 목숨을 잃었으며 수백만명의 이재민이 발생했습니다.
중국 정부는 피해지역들에서의 재건을 위해 1천 5백억 달러 상당이 소요될 것이라고 말하고 있습니다.

Chinese state media say the World
Bank and France have agreed to lend China more than 900-million dollars to help
rebuild areas devastated by a massive earthquake earlier this year.
The Xinhua news agency says the loan was announced today (Sunday) at an
investment conference in southwestern Sichuan province, the area hardest hit in
the deadly May 12th quake.
Xinhua says the World Bank will lend China 710-million dollars to reconstruct
roads, bridges and hospitals in Sichuan and the neighboring province of Gansu.
It says the French Development Agency agreed to a loan of 200-million dollars
for urban infrastructure and the rebuilding of rural homes.
The May 12th earthquake killed nearly 70-thousand people and left millions
homeless.
The Chinese government says it will cost nearly 150-billion dollars to rebuild
the devastated areas.
