아랍에미리트 연합의 아부다이와 두바이의 주가는 이날 4% 이상 폭락했고 이집트의 주가는 6% 이상, 그리고 오마르와 카타르의 주가 역시 8% 이상 크게 떨어졌습니다.
한편 중국 베이징에서 이틀 일정으로 열렸던 제 7차 아시아 유럽 정상회의는 각국 지도자들이 세계금융체제의 전면적인 개혁을 위해 효과적이면서도 포괄적인 조치를 취할 것을 다짐하는 가운데 폐막됐습니다. 그러나 어떠한 직접적인 조치도 발표되지 않았습니다.

Stock markets across much of the
Middle East dropped sharply today, despite pledges from Asian and European
leaders to take strong action to stem the global economic crisis.
Markets in Abu Dhabi and Dubai lost more than four percent, the Egyptian stock
exchange fell more than six percent, and Omar and Qatar lost more than eight
percent.
In Kuwait, the Central Bank intervened to halt trading in one of the country's
largest banks, after it incurred major losses in currency and stock trades.
On Saturday, Asian and European leaders called for a coordinated response to
the worldwide financial crisis.
Wrapping up a two-day conference in Beijing, the leaders pledged to take
effective and comprehensive actions to reform world monetary and financial
systems. However no direct measures were announced.
