한국 정부 관계자들은 19일 은행 소유의 외국 융자에 대해 1천억 달러를 보증할 것과 이들 기관들에 3백억 달러를 지원 할 것을 발표했습니다.
이 같은 내용을 골자로 하는 한국의 금융시장안정대책안은 조지 부시 미국 대통령이 프랑스의 니콜라 사르코지 대통령과 호세 마누엘 바로소 유럽연합(EU) 집행위원회 위원장을 만나 전세계 금융 위기와 관련해 논의한 지 하루 만에 나온 것입니다.
이들 3 정상들은 성명을 발표하고 전세계 금융 위기 타개를 위해 일련의 정상회담을 준비 중이라고 밝혔습니다. 이들은 첫번째 회담에서는 미래의 번영을 보장하기 위한 ‘개혁의 원칙’들에 합의를 이루는데 초점이 맞춰 질 것이라고 말했습니다.

South Korea has become the latest
major economy to try to strengthen its banks in response to the global
financial crisis.
Officials in Seoul today (Sunday) announced they will guarantee
100-billion dollars in foreign loans held by the banks. The government also
plans to inject 30-billion dollars directly into those institutions.
The South Korean pledge came a day after U.S. President George Bush discussed
the financial crisis with French President Nicolas Sarkozy and European
Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso (at Camp David, near Washington).
The leaders said in a statement they are planning for a series of summits to
address the situation. They said the first summit would focus on reaching
"principles of reform" to ensure future prosperity. Later summits
would develop specific steps to meet those goals.
