국제적인 신용 위기의 확산으로 세계 경제성장률이 더 떨어질 것이라는 우려 때문에, 국제유가가 8개월만의 최저 수준인 배럴당 90 달러 밑으로 떨어졌습니다.
유럽과 아시아의 증시도 7천억 달러 규모에 이르는 미국의 금융구제 계획으로도 세계 경제위기를 피할 수 없을 것이라는 투자자들의 불안 심리로 인해 오늘 급락세를 보였습니다. 유럽 증시는 오전 거래에서 주가가 5% 정도 떨어졌으며, 러시아 증권 시장은 15% 이상 급락한 뒤 거래가 잠시 중단되는 사태가 벌어졌습니다. 일본과 타이완, 한국 등 아시아 주요 증시도 4%이상 하락세를 보였습니다.
외환시장에서는 독일 정부가 독일의 대형 은행 히포 리얼 에스타테를 위해 6백80억 달러 규모의 금융구제안을 발표하면서 달러화 대비 유로화의 가치가 13개월만에 최저 수준으로 떨어졌습니다.

Oil prices have fallen below 90 dollars a barrel - an eight month low - on
speculation that the spreading credit crisis will further slow world
economies.
Markets in Europe and Asia are also sharply lower today
(Monday), as investors seem not convinced that a 700 billion-dollar
financial rescue plan approved Friday in the United States will do much to avoid
a global economic crisis.
European markets are down about five percent in
morning trading. Russia's leading stock exchange temporarily halted trading
after plunging more than 15 percent.
Markets in Tokyo, Taipei and South
Korea closed down more than four percent, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng finished
almost five per cent lower. Japan's Nikkei index has fallen to a four-year
low.
In currency trading, the euro is at a 13-month low against the
dollar after the German government and state banks were forced to put together a
68 billion-dollar rescue package for troubled commercial property lender, Hypo
Real Estate AG.
European leaders are pledging to bail out troubled banks
and protect depositors, as they called for a more coordinated response to the
global financial crisis.
