영국의 사탕회사인 '캐드버리'가 중국에서 만들어진 11개 제품에 대한 회수조치를 시작했습니다. 캐드버리 사에 따르면 회수대상 제품에서 화학물질인 멜라민이 검출됐습니다.
캐드버리 사 대변인은 29일 중국과 대만, 호주에서 판매되던 이들 제품에 대해 회수명령을 내렸다고 밝혔습니다.
문제가 된 제품들은 중국 베이징에 있는 캐드버리 공장에서 만들어졌습니다.
중국에서는 멜라민이 들어있는 분유를 먹은 유아 5만3천명이 중독 증상을 보였습니다. 이 중 4명은 멜라민이 들어간 우유나 유제품을 먹고 사망했습니다.
한편 중국 정부는 29일 멜라민이 들어간 우유를 만들거나 판매한 혐의로 22명을 체포했다고 발표했습니다.

British candy maker Cadbury says it has recalled 11 varieties of its Chinese-made products after tests showed traces of the chemical melamine.
A company spokesman says the group has ordered the removal of candies from store shelves in China, Taiwan and Australia.
The chocolates are mostly distributed in Taiwan and Hong Kong, but one product line is sold in Australia.
The spokesman did not say how much of the chemical was in the chocolates. The candies were made at the company's plant in Beijing.
Melamine-laced infant milk has already sickened some 53-thousand babies in China. Four children have died after drinking milk or milk products laced with melamine.
News of the newly contaminated candies comes as Chinese authorities announced the arrest today of 22 people in northern China who were allegedly part of a network that produced and sold milk contaminated with the chemical melamine.
