미국과 러시아, 프랑스, 영국, 중국과 독일의 고위 관료들은 19일 워싱턴에서 이란 핵 관련 회의를 했지만, 추가 제재와 관련해 합의를 이루지 못했습니다.
미 국무부의 로버트 우드 대변인은 회의에 참석한 관료들이 이란에 대해 두 가지의 접근법을 택하는 방침을 확인했다고 말했습니다. 이 접근법은 이란이 우라늄 농축을 중단하면 혜택을 주고, 중단하지 않으면 새로운 제재를 가하는 것입니다.
서방 국가들은 이란이 핵 무기를 개발하려는 것에 우려를 표하고 있습니다. 이란은 자국의 핵 프로그램은 전력 생산과 같은 평화적 용도라고 주장합니다.

Russia's foreign
ministry says Moscow is opposed to the United Nations taking new measures
against Iran for its controversial nuclear program.
The ministry said today (Saturday) that it is necessary to continue
efforts to include Tehran in a constructive dialogue to push the negotiating
process forward.
On Friday, senior officials from the United States, Russia, France, Britain,
China and Germany, failed to reach a consensus on possible new sanctions during
a meeting in Washington.
A U.S. State Department spokesman (Robert Wood) said the officials
reaffirmed their commitment to a two-pronged approach to Iran. That strategy
offers incentives to Iran if it stops enriching uranium, and threatens new
sanctions if it does not.
Western countries are concerned Iran is trying to develop nuclear weapons.
Tehran says its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes, like generating
electricity.
