중국 위생부는 20일 모든 성과 주요 도시들에 오염된 분유 피해 관련 24시간 비상 전화 안내를 설치할 것을 지시했습니다.
이에 앞서 내각인 국무원은 19일 오염된 분유를 먹고 신장 결석이 생긴 영유아들에 대해 의사들이 무료 검진과 치료를 제공할 것을 촉구했습니다.
공업 화학물인 멜라민이 첨가된 분유를 먹고 지금까지 4명의 영유아가 사망하고 6천2백명의 영유아가 병에 걸렸습니다.
홍콩 당국과 일본의 주요 식품 회사는 중국산 우유로 만든 제품들을 회수하기 시작했습니다. 말레이시아와 싱가포르는 중국으로부터 우유 수입을 금지했습니다. 버마 당국자들은 중국산 우유를 수거해 폐기처분 할 것이라고 말했습니다.
또한 미국에 본사를 둔 커피 회사 스타벅스는 중국 내 300개 지점에서 우유가 들어간 제품들의 판매를 중단했습니다.

Chinese authorities have urged all provinces and major cities to set up 24-hour
crisis hotlines to provide information and help to people affected by tainted
milk.
The order today (Saturday) from the Ministry of Health follows
directions Friday from China's State Council, or Cabinet, that doctors should
provide free medical care for babies who have gotten kidney stones from
contaminated milk.
The milk, laced with the chemical melamine, is blamed for killing four infants
and sickening more than 62-hundred others.
Recalls have been announced by Hong Kong authorities and by a major Japanese
food company (Marudai Food Company)for products that may have been made
with Chinese milk. Malaysia and Singapore have banned milk from China. Burmese
authorities are promising to seize and destroy Chinese milk products.
And the U.S.-based Starbucks coffee chain has pulled all its products made with
milk from its more than 300 stores in China.
