부정부패 사건과 관련한 재판을 피하기 위해 영국으로 도피한 탁신 전 총리 부부의 외교여권을 박탈하지 않겠다고 태국의 사막 순다라벳 총리가 밝혔습니다.
사막 총리는 영국측에 탁신 전 총리 부부의 송환을 요청할 계획도 없다고 말했습니다.
한편 어제 태국 수도 방콕에서는 탁신 전 총리의 송환을 요구하는 천여명의 시민들이 외무부 청사 밖에서 시위를 벌였습니다.

Thai Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej says
deposed Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and his wife can keep their
diplomatic passports despite having fled to Britain to avoid corruption
charges.
Mr. Samak, whose ruling party is filled with Thaksin allies, also told
reporters today that he has no plans to ask Britain to extradite the former
prime minister and his wife Pojaman.
About a thousand people Thursday protested outside the Foreign Ministry in Bangkok
demanding the passports be revoked and the pair returned to Thailand to face
legal action.
Mr. Thaksin and his wife fled to Britain in early August. They own property
there including the Manchester City Football Club.
Thailand's Supreme Court, which is trying them in absentia for corruption, is
due to release a verdict on September 17th.
