EU 의장국인 프랑스는 이 날 기존 유엔 제재보다 조금 더 추가된 새로운 금융과 무역 부문 제재를 가한다고 밝혔습니다.
EU는 이란 은행들과 거래 중인 금융 단체들을 면밀히 조사할 계획입니다. EU의 27개국 회원국들은 또 이란과의 항공, 해상 교역 화물도 조사할 예정입니다.
EU는 이란의 석유와 천연가스 교역물에 대해서는 제재를 가하지 않고 있습니다.
익명을 요구한 영국 정부 고위 관리는 이 날 기자들에게 영국과 미국을 포함한 다른 나라들은 이란의 에너지 분야를 겨냥한 추가 제재를 고려하고 있다고 밝혔습니다.

The European Union has imposed a new set of sanctions against Iran over its disputed
nuclear program.
The EU's current president, France, announced today (Friday)new
financial and shipping restrictions against Tehran which go slightly further
than existing United Nations sanctions.
The EU will begin to closely scrutinize financial groups doing business with
Iranian banks. The 27 members of the EU will also inspect cargo traveling to
and from Iran on airplanes and ships.
The European bloc is not imposing sanctions against Iran's oil and natural gas
trade.
A senior British official, who declined to be named, told reporters today that
his country and others, including the United States, are considering additional
sanctions that may target Iran's energy sector.
