India has announced a new 450 million-dollar aid package to develop Afghanistan, weeks after a deadly bombing outside the Indian embassy in Kabul.

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh pledged the aid today (Monday) after meeting Afghan President Hamid Karzai in the Indian capital, New Delhi.

India is one of Kabul's largest aid donors. New Delhi is already spending 750 million dollars on reconstruction projects in Afghanistan, such as building roads and hospitals.

Mr. Singh says attacks like the embassy bombing are an effort to disrupt ties between the countries. But he vowed not to allow terrorism to weaken that bond.

President Karzai also stressed the need for their countries, and the world, to fight terrorism.

India and Afghanistan suspect Pakistan's intelligence agency planned the embassy bombing that killed 58 people last month. Pakistan denies the charge.
