이라크의 과격 시아파 성직자인 모크타다 알 사드르는 미군의 지속적인 이라크 주둔에 대해 이라크 정부가 거부입장을 분명히 할 것을 촉구했습니다.
알 사드르는 어제 이같은 내용의 성명을 발표하고 누리 알 말리키 이라크 총리가 미군주둔안을 거부할 경우 말리키 정부에 대한 정치적 지지 입장을 공식화할 것이라고 밝혔습니다.
알 사드르는 미군의 이라크 주둔에 반발해 왔으며 최근 종전협정 직전까지 그가 이끄는 마흐디 민병대는 미군과 자주 충돌해 왔습니다.

Radical Iraqi Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr is urging the Iraqi
government to reject a deal that would allow U.S. troops to remain in Iraq.
In a statement (issued Wednesday), al-Sadr said he would support Prime
Minister Nouri al-Maliki's government "publicly and politically" if
it does not sign the accord.
Al-Sadr opposes the presence of American troops in Iraq, and until a recent
cease-fire his Mahdi Army militia clashed frequently with U.S. troops.
U.S. and Iraqi officials have been negotiating an agreement that would govern
the presence of U.S. troops in the country once the United Nations mandate
expires at the end of the year.
Meanwhile, Iraqi police say a suicide bomber has killed three policemen in an
attack near the northern city of Mosul.
