지난 5월 대지진으로 엄청난 인명피해를 입은 중국 스촨성 정부가 피해 가족들에게 '한 가정 한 자녀 낳기' 정책 적용을 면제키로 결정했습니다.
스촨성 정부는 25일 지진으로 장애가 됐거나 숨진 자녀를 둔 가정, 그리고 두 자녀가 모두 불구가 된 가정의 경우 추가로 자녀를 가질 수 있는 규례를 통과했습니다.
새 규례는 또 부모 중 한 사람이 장애를 입은 가정에도 추가로 자녀를 가질 수 있도록 하고 있습니다.
한편 스촨성 당국은 지진으로 자녀를 잃거나 장애가 된 가정에 매달 미화 15달러의 정부 보조금을 지급할 것이라고 밝혔습니다.
중국 당국은 스촨성 대지진으로 7만여명이 숨지고 수 백만이 집을 잃은 것으로 집계하고 있습니다.

The government of China's Sichuan province, which was devastated by an earthquake in May, has waived the country's strict one-child rule for affected families.
On Friday, the local government passed new rules permitting families whose one
child was disabled or killed, or whose two children were both disabled in the
quake to have another child.
The new rules also allow families who had a parent disabled to have another
child.
Meanwhile, officials say families who lost their children, or whose children
were crippled will receive a subsidy of 15 dollars a month.
Officials say the quake killed nearly 70-thousand people and left millions of
others homeless.
