그리스 로도스 섬에서 강도 6.3의 강력한 지진이 발생했습니다.

그리스 당국은 여성 1명이 집 밖으로 대피하던중 미끄러져 사망했다고 밝혔습니다. 지진으로 인한 대규모 인명과 재산 피해는 보고되지 않고 있습니다.

그리스의 최고 관광명소 가운데 하나인 로도스 섬 지진으로 인해 주민들과 관광객들이 급히 건물 밖으로 대피했습니다.

지질학자들은 진앙이 로도스 남쪽 해저라고 밝히고 이같은 해저 지진은 여진으로 이어질 확률이 낮다고 밝혔습니다.

A magnitude six-point-three earthquake shook the Greek island of Rhodes this (Tuesday) morning, startling residents and visitors.

Officials say a woman died when she slipped and fell trying to flee her home. There were no reports of major injuries or material damage.

But the quake sent residents and tourists fleeing homes and buildings on Rhodes, which is one of the top tourist destinations in Greece.

Scientists put the quake's epicenter beneath the seabed south of the island. Seismologist Giorgos Stavrakakis says underwater quakes such as this are characterized by very little or no aftershock activity.

Earthquakes are frequent in Greece, which is one of the most seismically active countries in the world.
