아흐마디네자드 대통령은 13일 각료회의가 끝난 뒤 이에 관한 질문을 받고 이같이 답했습니다. 아흐마디네자드 대통령은 이란과 미국 국민들 간의 관계를 확대하는 안을 환영한다고 말했습니다.
아흐마디네자드 대통령은 아직 미국 정부로부터 공식 요청을 받지않았다고 말했습니다.
미국 언론은 지난 6월, 미국 정부 관리들이 테헤란에 외교 공관을 개설해야 할 지 여부를 논의하고 있다고 보도했습니다.
지난1980년 이란의 과격주의자들이 이란 주재 미국 대사관을 점거한 사건이 일어난 뒤 미국과 이란 간의 외교 관계가 단절됐습니다.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says he is willing to consider a U.S. diplomatic office in Tehran.
He made the comment today (Sunday) in response to a question after a cabinet meeting. He said he welcomes the idea of expansion of ties between the peoples of Iran and the United States.
The Iranian president said he has not received any official request for a U.S. diplomatic office.
American media reported in June that U.S. officials are debating whether the United States should open an interests section in Tehran.
Diplomatic relations have been cut since 1980, following the (November, 1979) seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran by Iranian radicals.
