한국 정부는 6일 유가 급등에 따라 오는 15일부터 공공기관을 대상으로 승용차 홀짝제를 시행하기로 했습니다.
승용차 홀짝제는 1988년 서울 올림픽 당시 시행된 바 있으나 고유가에 따른 차량 홀짝제 시행은 이번이 처음이라고, 한국의 '연합뉴스'가 보도했습니다.
정부는 이 날 발표한 '초고유가 대응 에너지 절약대책'에서 기념탑, 분수대, 교량 등 공공시설물에 설치된 경관조명 시설 사용을 금지하고, 일반도로와 고속도로 과다조명 구간 가로등은 심야시간 소등키로 했습니다.
정부는 이같은 내용 등의 1단계 위기관리 조치를 조기발동하고, 유가가 배럴 당 170달러를 넘어설 경우 민간부분 에너지 절약 강제조치에 나서는 방안을 검토키로 했습니다.

Officials in South Korea will have to restrict the amount of time they spend driving their government vehicles, as part of a new effort to combat skyrocketing oil prices.
The South Korean government today (Sunday) announced a series of measures designed to cut energy consumption, putting restrictions on transportation for the first time since the country hosted the 1988 summer Olympics.
Prime Minister Han Seung-soo says vehicles at more than 800 government offices will remain idle every other day beginning July 15th.
Other measures include limiting the use of air-conditioning at government buildings.
South Korea is the world's fifth-largest oil consumer and imports nearly all of its oil. Officials hope to cut the amount of energy used by the government by at least six percent.
Mr. Han also encouraged private citizens to reduce their energy usage.
