몽골 정부가 나흘간 내렸던 국가비상사태를 5일 자정을 기해 해제했습니다.
몽골의 남바린 앵흐바야르 대통령은 지난달 29일 실시된 총선의 부정행위를 규탄하는 폭력 시위가 수도 울란바토르에서 확산되자 지난 1일 국가 비상사태를 선포했었습니다. 이번 폭력 시위로 5명이 숨지고 2백명 이상이 다쳤습니다.
당시 선거를 감독했던 독립적인 감시원단은 투표에 대규모 부정행위는 없는 것으로 보였다고 밝힌 바 있습니다.
몽골 정부는 비상사태 선포 후 7백여명을 구금했습니다.
그러나 비상 사태 이후 상황이 진전되자 울란바토르에 배치됐던 몽골군이 3일부터 철수를 시작했습니다.
집권당인 인민혁명당과 야당인 민주당 지도부는 5일 서로의 이견을 해결하기 위해 협상을 벌였습니다. 두 정당은 앞서 4일 추가 폭력시위 반대를 촉구하는 공동 성명에 서명한 바 있습니다.
앞서 발표된 잠정 개표결과 집권당인 인민혁명당은 상대인 민주당에 두 배에 가까운 의석을 차지해 승리한 것으로 나타났습니다.

Mongolia was set to end its four-day state of emergency at midnight local time Saturday night.
Allegations of election fraud touched off riots in the capital of Ulan Bator on June 29th, though independent observers say they saw no major irregularities in the balloting.
Five people were killed and more than 200 others were injured in the violence, prompting President Nambaryn Enkhbayar to declare a four-day state of emergency. About 700 people have been detained.
Troops have been withdrawing from the city since Thursday.
The heads of rival political parties met today (Saturday) to try resolving their differences. They had signed a joint declaration Friday urging the nation against any repeat of this week's election violence.
