오늘 테헤란에서 행한 연설을 통해 에바디는 이란에 대한 경제적 제재 역시 해제할 것을 서방국가들 측에 촉구했습니다. 에바디는 군사 공격과 경제 재재 조치로 무고한 사람들만 피해를 입게 된다며 이란 핵문제를 해결하기 위한 평화적인 방법을 도출해 내야 한다고 강조했습니다.
인권 변호사 출신의 에바디는 이란 여성과 어린이들의 권익 증진 업적이 인정돼 지난 2003년 노벨 평화상을 수상했습니다.

Iranian Nobel peace laureate Shirin Ebadi has warned Western nations against launching a military attack on Iran in a dispute over its controversial nuclear program.
In a speech in Tehran today (Thursday), Ebadi also called on the West to refrain from imposing further economic sanctions on Iran. She said both military action and economic sanctions would only hurt ordinary people, and she urged a peaceful resolution to the nuclear standoff.
Ebadi's address marked the launch of the "National Peace Council," a new anti-war group she helped create with the aim of neutralizing foreign war threats against Iran.
Ebadi, a human rights lawyer, was awarded the Nobel peace prize in 2003 for her work promoting greater rights for women and children in Iran.
