대통령 후보로 단독 출마한 짐바브웨의 로버트 무가베 대통령이 지난 금요일 대선을 강행하면서 짐바브웨 연립정부 구성 가능성이 좌절됐다고 짐바브웨 야당 최고 지도자가 밝혔습니다.
짐바브웨 제 1야당인 민주변화운동의 텐다이 비티 사무총장은 지난달 27일 치러진 허위 조작 선거로 인해 짐바브웨의 정국 혼란을 잠재울 대안 마련이 불가능하다는 성명을 발표했습니다.
비티 사무총장은 또 민주변화운동이 무가베 대통령의 여당 '짐바브웨 아프리카 민족연맹-민주전선'과 회담을 계속하고 있다는 보도 내용이 악의에 찬 허위라며 이를 강하게 부인했습니다.
남아프리카 공화국을 비롯한 다른 국가들은 짐바브웨 여당이 야당과 케냐식 권력분점 협상을 할 것을 촉구해왔습니다.
이에 대해 무가베 대통령측은 짐바브웨는 짐바브웨만의 역사적 특수성을 갖고 있다며 거부 입장을 분명히 했습니다.

A top leader of Zimbabwe's opposition says the option of forming a unity government in Zimbabwe ended when President Robert Mugabe went ahead with his one-man election Friday.
In a statement from the capital, Harare today (Tuesday), Movement for Democratic Change Secretary-General Tendai Biti says the sham election of June 27th ended any prospects for a negotiated settlement to Zimbabwe's political crisis.
Biti also strongly denied reports that the MDC had been holding talks with President Mugabe's ruling ZANU-PF party, calling the reports malicious and false.
Other countries, including South Africa, have called for the ruling party to open talks with the opposition to form a Kenya-style power-sharing agreement.
But earlier today, Zimbabwe presidential spokesman George Charamba dismissed those calls, saying Kenya is Kenya and Zimbabwe is Zimbabwe, and the two nations have different ways of resolving conflict.
