중국 남서부에서 29일 주민들이 공안 당국 청사에 불을 지르는 소요 사태가 발생했습니다.
중국 언론에 따르면 중국 귀주성에서는 이날 주민 1만여 명이 공안국 청사에 몰려가 집기와 유리창을 부수고 불을 질렀습니다. 이 과정에서 공안국 소속 차량 10여대가 불에 타기도 했습니다.
현지 소식통에 따르면 공안 당국의 석연찮은 살인 사건 처리가 이번 소요 사태를 촉발시켰습니다. 귀주성 공안 당국은 최근 15살 여중생을 강간하고 살해한 20대 살인 용의자 2명을 체포했습니다. 여중생 가족들은 이들 용의자가 현지 당 간부의 아들이라고 말하고 있습니다. 공안당국은 그 이튿날 뚜렷한 이유없이 이 용의자들을 석방했습니다.
이같은 소문이 퍼지자 현지 주민들의 분노가 폭발해 주민들이 지방 청사에 몰려가 청사 건물에 불을 지른 것입니다.

The death of a school girl has apparently
touched off riots in southwestern China.
Chinese state media and accounts on the Internet today (Sunday) say
thousands of people took to the streets of Wengan county in Guizhou province
Saturday.
The reports say the rioters torched the Wengan county police station and
government vehicles, demanding a new investigation into the death of the
15-year-old girl.
Police ruled her death a suicide, but the family says she was raped and
murdered by the son of a local official.
The rioting comes as the Chinese government tries to quell unrest ahead of the
Beijing Olympics in August.
