알-말리키 총리는 이란 정부 관리들과의 회담에서 이란 군이 이라크내 시아파 민병대를 지원하고 있다는 미국 측 주장에 관해서도 논의할 것으로 보도되고 있습니다.
이란은 이같은 미국 측의 주장은 사실이 아니라고 주장하고 있습니다.
또한 미군의 이라크 주둔 연장 문제에 관한 이라크과 미국 간의 협상에 관해서도 알-말리키 총리의 이번 이란 방문에서 논의될 것으로 알려졌습니다.
미국과 이라크는 유엔의 위임이 끝나는 오는 12월 31일이 지난 후에도 미군이 이라크에 계속 주둔할 수 있도록 허용하기 위한 안보 방안을 논의해 왔습니다.
최근 라이언 크락커 이라크 주재 미국 대사는 미국과 이라크 간의 안보 합의는 미군이 이라크에 장기간 주둔하기 위한 청사진이 아니라고 말했습니다.
이란은 미국과 이라크의 이같은 안보 방안에 반대하고 있습니다.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has arrived in Iran today (Saturday) for talks aimed at improving relations between the two countries.
Media reports say the talks will also focus on U.S. allegations of Iranian military support for Shi'ite militias in Iraq -- charges that Tehran denies -- and on Iraq's ongoing negotiations with Washington about an extended U.S. presence in the country.
U.S. and Iraqi officials have been discussing a security deal that would allow American forces to remain in Iraq beyond December 31st, when their U.N. mandate expires.
The U.S. ambassador to Iraq, Ryan Crocker, said this week the agreement is not a blueprint for a long-term American military presence inside Iraq.
Iran opposes the agreement.
