3일간의 일정으로 미국을 방문한 올메르트 총리는 어제 미국의 콘돌리자 라이스 국무장관과 이스라엘을 지지하는 로비단체 ‘미국-이스라엘 공공정책위원회’(AIPAC) 지도부와 만났습니다. 올메르트 총리는 ‘미국-이스라엘 공공책위원회’에서 행한 연설에서 올해 안에 팔레스타인과 평화협상을 타결하겠다는 뜻을 거듭 밝혔습니다.

President George Bush is to meet today (Wednesday) with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert in Washington for talks on advancing Israeli-Palestinian peace efforts.
The two leaders are also expected to discuss Iran's controversial nuclear program as well as security relations between the United States and Israel.
Mr. Olmert, who is in Washington for a three-day visit, met Tuesday with U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and leaders of the pro-Israel lobbying group, AIPAC. In an address to the group, Mr. Olmert reiterated his support for reaching a peace deal with the Palestinians before the end of the year.
Secretary Rice, who also addressed the AIPAC conference, said Tuesday the Bush administration still believes there is a chance to reach a deal on what she called the "basic contours of a peaceful Palestinian state." But she called it an "ambitious" goal that might slip to the next U.S. administration.
