중국 보건부는 베이징 시 차오양 구에 사는 13살 남자 어린이가 지난 11일 병원으로 후송되다 숨졌다고 밝혔습니다. 보건부는 이 어린이가 수족구 병을 일으키는
장 바이러스인 엔테로 바이러스 71에 감염된 것으로 확인됐다고 밝혔습니다. 엔테로 바이러스 71에 감염되면 고열과 마비, 수막염 등의 증상이 나타납니다.
중국에서는 올해 들어 지금까지 2만4천 건 이상의 수족구병 사례가 보고됐습니다.

Chinese health officials say the capital city Beijing has recorded its first death from an outbreak of a severe intestinal virus that has now killed 42 children nationwide.
A 13-month-old boy from the city's Chaoyang District died Sunday while on the way to a hospital.
A spokeswoman for the Health Ministry says the boy tested positive for enterovirus 71, a severe form of hand, foot and mouth disease that can lead to high fever, paralysis and viral meningitis.
The spokeswoman says another child died of the disease in a Beijing hospital, but the case will be recorded in the neighboring Hebei province, where the child resided.
More than 24-thousand cases of hand, foot and mouth disease have been reported this year. The majority of the casualties have been recorded in the eastern province of Anhui.
