중국에서 지난 12일 대지진의 진앙지인 원찬현에서 14일 처음으로 수 십 명의 부상자들이 후송되기 시작했다고, 중국 관영언론이 보도했습니다.
당국자들은 진도 7. 9의 이번 지진으로 쓰촨성과 주변지역에서 약 1만5천 명이 사망했으며, 이밖에도 많은 사람들이 무너진 건물과 가옥, 학교에 매몰됐다고 말했습니다.
관영 신화통신은 원찬현에서 47명의 부상자가 비행기 편으로 쓰촨성 성도인 청두의 가장 큰 병원으로 후송됐다고 전했습니다.
당국자들은 인근 잉슈의 상황이 예상보다 더 나빴다고 말했습니다. 한 지방정부 당국자는 1만 명의 주민 가운데 2천3백명 만 살아 남았다고 신화통신에 말했습니다.
이번 지진의 공식 사망자 수가 계속 늘어나고 있는 가운데, 구조대원들이 가장 피해가 큰 지역들에 도착해 본격적인 구조작업을 시작하면서, 사망자 수가 더 늘어날 것이라고 당국자들은 예상하고 있습니다.

Chinese state media say the first batch of injured quake victims have been evacuated today (Wednesday) from a county at the center of Monday's massive earthquake.
Officials say the seven-point-nine-magnitude quake has left nearly 15-thousand dead in Sichuan and surrounding provinces, and buried tens of thousands of others under collapsed buildings, homes and schools.
The official Xinhua news agency says 47 injured were flown from Wenchuan county to the largest hospital in Sichuan's capital of Chengdu.
Officials say the situation is worse than expected in Yingxiu. A local government official told Xinhua that of the 10-thousand residents there, only 23-hundred survived.
The official death toll from the quake continues to rise and authorities expect that number to go up as rescue crews arrive at hard-hit areas and begin digging through the rubble.
Chinese officials estimate that nearly 26-thousand people remain buried.
