후진타오 주석은 이날 베이징에서 일본 방문을 앞두고 일본 기자들과 만났습니다. 후진타오 주석은 이 자리에서 달라이 라마와의 접촉이 긍정적인 결과로 이어지기를 바란다고 말했습니다.
중국이 대화 방침을 밝힘에 따라 달라이 라마측은 특사 두명을 중국에 파견했습니다. 달라이 라마측은 “이번 방문을 통해 티베트 사태와 관련 중국의 대처 방식에 대한 달라이 라마의 깊은 우려와 티베트에 평화를 정착시키기 위한 제안을 전달할 것"이라고 말했습니다.
관측통들은 중국 정부가 오는 8월 올림픽을 성공적으로 치르기 위해 달라이 라마와 대화하기로 입장을 선회한 것으로 보고있습니다.

Chinese President Hu Jintao says he hopes talks with envoys of Tibet's exiled leader, the Dalai Lama, will be beneficial.
Mr. Hu told Japanese reporters in Beijing today (Sunday) that he hoped contacts will yield a positive outcome. The Chinese leader was conducting a news conference ahead of a visit to Tokyo Tuesday.
The Dalai Lama has sent two envoys for talks today with Chinese authorities in a bid to bring peace to Tibet and other Tibetan regions of China.
Spokesmen for the Dalai Lama say the delegates (Lodi Gyari and Kelsang Gyaltsen) will meet with Chinese officials in Shenzhen, near Hong Kong.
Chinese media have not mentioned the planned meeting, which will be the first since protests in Tibetan regions began in March.
