2008 하계 올림픽 성화 봉송행사가 중국령 마카오에서 시작됐습니다.
중국 관영 신화 통신은 120명의 성화 봉송 주자들이 전 포르투갈 식민지였던 마카오 전역을 돌게 될 것이라고 밝혔습니다.
앞서 2일 홍콩에서 열린 성화 봉송행사는 국제적 봉송을 방해했던 혼란스런 시위 없이 무사히 끝났습니다.
중국의 올림픽 개최를 지지하는 사람들은 지난 3월 중국의 티베트 반정부 시위 탄압에 항의하기 위해 모인 소수의 시위자들을 압도했습니다.
앞서 성화 봉송이 시작될 때, 티베트 운동가들과 친 중국 관중들 사이에 가벼운 몸씨름이 벌어지기도 했습니다.
한편 경찰 당국은 자체 보호를 위해 다수의 시위자들을 연행했다고 밝혔습니다.

The Olympic torch relay has begun in the Chinese territory of Macau.
China's official Xinhua news agency says 120 torchbearers will carry the flame through the former Portuguese colony.
Friday's relay in Hong Kong concluded without any of the chaotic demonstrations that marred the torch's international journey.
Supporters of China's hosting of the Olympics outnumbered a handful of activists who gathered to protest Beijing's crackdown on anti-government demonstrations in Tibet in March.
At the start of the relay, there were minor scuffles between Tibet activists and pro-Beijing spectators. Police said several activists were taken away in a police van for their own protection.
