유엔과 아프리카 연합의 로돌페 아다다 다르푸르 공동특사와 유엔의 존 홈스 인도주의 업무담당 사무차장은 22일 유엔 안전보장이사회에서 이같이 밝혔습니다.
아다다 특사는 특히 유엔과 아프리카 연합의 공동 평화유지군이 당초 정해진 2만 6천 명의 40%도 안 되는 9 천 명 수준에 머물고 있는 것도 다르푸르 사태가 악화되고 있는 원인 가운데 하나라고 지적했습니다.
홈스 사무차장은 수단 정부와 반군이 다르푸르 사태를 정치적으로 해결할 의지를 보이지 않고 있다고 지적했습니다.

United Nations officials say the conflict in Sudan's western Darfur region is getting worse and that steps must be taken towards peace before the situation deteriorates further.
Joint African Union-U.N. Special Representative For Darfur Rodolfe Adada and top U.N. humanitarian official John Holmes made the comments to the Security Council Tuesday.
Adada told the council that part of the problem is the fact the joint U.N.-African Union peacekeeping force remains at around nine thousand troops - less than 40 percent of its mandated level of 26-thousand troops.
Humanitarian chief Holmes told the council the situation in Darfur is as bad, if not worse, than when he took over his job a year ago. He says there is a lack of will to reach a political solution by both the government and the rebels.
