유엔 고등판무관실은 중국이 젊은 파키스탄 난민 1명을 추방한데 대해 우려를 표명했습니다. 유엔 고등판무관실은 중국 당국자들이 동행자가 없는17살된 소년을 체포해 지난 3일 파키스탄으로 돌려보냈다고 말했습니다.
유엔 고등판무관실의 제니퍼 파고니스 대변인은 중국이 국제법을 위반했을 수 있다고 말했습니다. 파고니스 대변인은 중국이 난민들의 강제 본국추방을 금지하는1951년 난민협약의 조인국이라며 이같이 말했습니다.
유엔 고등판무관실은 이번 추방은 올 여름 베이징 올림픽에 앞서 제기되고 있는 안보상의 우려와 관련이 있는 것 같다고 말했습니다. 파고니스 대변인은 중국이 올해 들어 15명의 스리랑카, 이라크, 파키스탄 출신 난민들을 본국으로 추방시켰다고 말했습니다.

The United Nations refugee agency says it is concerned about China's deportation of a young Pakistani refugee.
The UNHCR says Chinese authorities picked up the 17-year-old boy, an unaccompanied refugee, on April third and deported him to Pakistan.
Agency spokeswoman Jennifer Pagonis says China may have violated international law. Pagonis says China is a signatory to the 1951 Refugee Convention, which prohibits the forcible deportation of refugees to their countries of origin.
The UNHCR says the deportation appears to be linked to alleged security concerns regarding the upcoming summer Olympics in Beijing.
Pagonis says the news of this and other deportations has created considerable anxiety among the refugees in Beijing.
The spokeswoman says China has deported 15 Sri Lankan, Iraqi and Pakistani refugees to their home countries this year.
She says the UNHCR takes care of about 180 refugees in mainland China. Most come from southwest Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
