남한의 국방부는 북한의 대화 중단 위협과 관련해 북한 측에 답신을 보낼 것인지의 여부를 앞으로 몇일 안에 결정할 것이라고 말했습니다.
북한은 남한의 김태영 합참 의장이 북한의 핵공격 대책과 관련한 국회에서의 발언을 취소하지 않을 경우 모든 남북한간의 대화를 중단할 것이라고 경고했습니다.
앞서 26일 김 합참의장은 국회 인사청문회에서 북한이 핵무기로 남한을 공격할 경우 어떻게 대처할 것이냐는 질의에 작동안되게 북한의 핵기지를 타격하는 것이라고 답했습니다.
북한군은 29일 남북 장성급 회담 북쪽 대표단 단장인 김영철 중장 명의로 국방부에 전달한 전화 통지문을 통해 '지금까자 북남관계 역사에서 일찍이 있어 본적이 없는 가장 엄중한 도전이라면서 남쪽이 시도하는 선제타격 움직임에 대해 더 강력한 선제타격으로 대응할 것'이라고 주장했습니다.
남북한간의 긴장은 최근들어 계속 조성되고 있습니다. 지난 27일에 북한은 개성공단에 상주하는 남한 당국자 11명을 전원 추방한데 이어 28일에는 서해상에서 단거리 미사일을 시험발사했습니다.

South Korea's defense ministry says it will decide within a few days whether to send a reply to North Korea over the North's threat to suspend dialogue.
The North warned it would stop all inter-Korean dialogue unless the South retracts a comment by its top general.
On Wednesday, the new chairman of South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff, answering a question in parliament, said the South would strike the North's nuclear facilities if North Korea attacked the South with small nuclear weapons.
North Korea's military reacted in a statement late Saturday saying it would counter the slightest move for a pre-emptive attack from the South with a more powerful attack of its own.
Tensions between the two sides have been building lately. On Thursday Pyongyang expelled South Korean officials working at a joint North-South industrial complex. The North also test-fired short range missiles off its coast on Friday.
