파키스탄의 페르베즈 무샤라프 대통령이 오는 24일 새 총리를 선출하기 위해 국회를 소집할 것이라고 무샤라프 대통령의 라시드 케르시 대변인이 밝혔습니다.
새 총리는 파키스탄 인민당과 파키스탄 무슬림연맹당으로 구성된 새 연립정부를 이끌게 됩니다. 두 야당은 지난달 치러진 총선에서 무샤라프 대통령이 이끄는 여당을 누르고 승리했습니다.
파키스탄 인민당측은 오늘 내부 논의끝에 새 총리 후보자를 정했다고 밝혔습니다.
Pakistani officials say President Pervez Musharraf has scheduled parliament to elect a new prime minister next week.
Mr. Musharraf's spokesman (Rashid Quershi) today (Thursday) said the president will reconvene the National Assembly on Monday (March 24th).
The new prime minister will lead a coalition government made up of the Pakistan People's Party and the Pakistani Muslim-League -- opposition parties that crushed President Musharraf's allies in last month's elections.
The PPP won the most votes and has the right to nominate the prime minister. PPP spokesman Nabeel Gabol said today the party has finally chosen a candidate after much internal debate.
Gabol did not name the candidate, or say when it would be announced. But he said the candidate was one of five nominees.
