미국은 이란과 같은 불량국가들로부터의 미사일 위협을 막기 위해 폴란드에 10기의 요격미사일과 체코에 레이더를 배치한다는 계획입니다. 반면 러시아는 미국의 계획이 새 군비경쟁으로 이어질 것이라며 반대하고 있습니다.

Russian officials say they are studying written U.S. proposals on a missile defense system the United States wants to deploy in central Europe.
Foreign Ministry officials say they received the documents today (Wednesday).
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Defense Secretary Robert Gates promised the proposals Tuesday, describing them as confidence building measures aimed at easing Russian opposition.
After Tuesday's talks, Rice and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov voiced optimism about progress in resolving bilateral disagreements.
The United States plans to deploy 10 interceptor missiles in Poland and guidance radar in the Czech Republic. President Bush says the system will defend the United States and its European allies from attacks by what he calls rogue states such as Iran.
Russia strongly opposes the U.S. plan, saying it will lead to a new arms race. Moscow has threatened to target neighboring countries joining the program.
