미국 민주당 대통령 후보 경선에서 버락 오바마 상원의원이 8일 실시된 와이오밍주 예비선거에서 경쟁자인 힐러리 클린턴 의원에게 압승을 거두었습니다.
오바마 후보는 이날 12명의 대의원을 선출하는 와이오밍주 예비 선거에서 61%를 득표해, 38%를 얻는 데 그친 클린턴 후보를 크게 앞섰습니다. 오바마는 이번 승리로 16개주에서 실시된 예비 선거중에 13개주에서 승리를 거두어 오바마 대세론이 한층 확산되는 분위기입니다.
또 오는 11일 예비 선거가 실시되는 남부 미시시피주의 경우 흑인 유권자들이 상당수를 차지해 오바마가 우세를 보일 것으로 전망됩니다.
그러나 오바마는 아직 민주당 대선후보로 확정되기 위해 필요한 대의원 수 2천25명에는 크게 못미쳐 당분간 클린턴과 치열한 접전이 불가피할 전망입니다.
오바마와 클린턴 후보간 팽팽한 접전이 계속되면서 민주당 대통령 후보가 오는 8월 말 콜로라도주 덴버에서 열리는 민주당 전당대회에서나 결정될 것이라는 관측도 나오고 있한습니다. 한편 이번 민주당 경선에서 승부를 좌우할 중립파 대의원들은 아직 마음을 정하지 못한채 사태를 관망하고 있다고 워싱턴 포스트 신문이 9일 보도했습니다.

U.S. presidential hopeful Senator Barack Obama has won the Democratic Party's nominating contest in the western state of Wyoming, beating out his rival, Senator Hillary Clinton.
Obama won 61 percent of the votes cast in Wyoming's political caucus, compared to Clinton's 38 percent.
The voting results indicate Obama will win at least seven of the 12 delegates Wyoming will send to the Democratic Party's convention later this year. Clinton's campaign manager (Maggie Williams) says the outcome in Wyoming will be "a near split" for the two candidates.
Clinton's campaign picked up momentum on Tuesday, winning three of four state contests after victories for Obama in 12 other recent primaries and caucuses. Overall, current opinion polls show the two virtually deadlocked in their battle for the Democratic Party presidential nomination.
