콘돌리자 라이스 미국무장관이 이달중 중국과 일본 ,한국을 방문해 북한 핵문제와 역내 현안들을 논의합니다.
미 국무부는 15일, 미국과 한국간 자유무역 협정 문제는 라이스 장관이 한국정부 당국과 논의하게 될 의제가운데 가장 중요한 현안이 될 것이라고 말했습니다.
숀 맥코맥 국무부 대변인은 또 미국측 북핵 문제 담당 특사인 크리스토퍼 힐 국무부 동아시아 태평양 담당 차관보도 동북아지역 순방을 위해 17일 워싱톤을 출발할 것이라고 밝혔습니다.
힐 차관보의 순방 일정에는 중국과 한국, 일본방문도 포함됩니다.
한편 백악관은 오는 25일에 거행될 한국의 이명박 대통령 당선자의 취임식때 라이스 장관을 대표로 하는 미국 축하 사절단의 명단을 발표했습니다.
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will travel to China, Japan and South Korea this month to discuss North Korean nuclear disarmament and other bilateral and regional issues.
The State Department said Friday that a U.S.-South Korean free trade agreement will be one of the topics of Rice's discussions with senior officials in Seoul. Her trip begins February 23rd.
Spokesman Sean McCormack also said the top U.S. envoy on the North Korean nuclear issue, Christopher Hill, will leave for the region on Sunday. Assistant Secretary of State Hill's trip will include stops in Beijing, Seoul and Tokyo.
In other news, the White House announced the members of a U.S. delegation headed by Rice that will attend the inauguration of South Korean President Lee Myung-bak on February 25th.
