터키의 베크디 고눌 국방장관은, 터키가 약 3억달러 상당의 이스라엘 첩보위성 구매에 관심을 갖고 있다고 밝혔습니다.
고눌 장관은 12일 앙카라에서 에후드 바라크 이스라엘 국방장관과의 회담을 마친 후, 현재 기술팀이 이스라엘제 ‘오페크’ 첩보위성의 이익에 관해 검토하고 있다고 말했습니다.
바라크 이스라엘 국방장관은 이스라엘제 첩보위성과 여러 방위무기 판매를 위해 터키를 방문했습니다.
터키는 또한 2억 달러 상당의 이스라엘 제 ‘헤론’ 공중경보기 10대를 구매할 계획입니다.
터키와 이스라엘은 지역 동맹국으로 지난 1996년 군사협력협정에 서명한 바 있습니다.

Turkey's defense minister says Ankara is interested in buying an Israeli spy satellite worth about 300 million dollars.
Vecdi Gonul said today (Tuesday) that technical teams are discussing Turkey's interest in the Israeli "Ofek" satellite.
He made the announcement after meeting Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak in Ankara. Barak is visiting the Turkish capital to promote the sale of the Israeli spy satellite and other defense deals.
Turkey also plans to buy 10 Israeli ("Heron") surveillance aircraft for almost 200 million dollars.
Turkey and Israel are regional allies and signed a military cooperation deal in 1996.
Israel's Barak also was due to meet Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan today, followed by talks with President Abdullah Gul and military chief (General) Yasar Buyukanit on Wednesday.
