일본 오키나와에서 미 해병이 14살 여중생을 성폭행한 혐의로 체포된 가운데, 후쿠다 야스오 총리가 12일 '용서되서는 안될 심각한 문제'라고 말했습니다.
오키나와 경찰은 지난 10일 여중생을 성폭행한 혐의로 38살의 미 해병 루터 해드놋을 11일 체포했습니다.
경찰에 따르면 해드놋은 성폭행 혐의는 부인하고 있으며, 강제로 키스를 했다는 것만 시인하고 있습니다.
한편 미군당국은 오키나와 당국의 수사에 계속 협조할 것이라고 밝혔습니다.
오키나와에서는 지난 1995년에도 미군 3명이 여학생을 성폭행한 사건이 발생해서 큰 파장을 불러일으켰었습니다.
현재 일본에는 미군 5만명이 주둔 중이며, 대부분 오키나와에 주둔하고 있습니다.
