러시아는 이라크가 구소련에 진 130억달러 부채의 거의 대부분을 탕감해 주기로 합의했습니다.
이라크의 호샤르 제바리 외무장관과 러시아의 알렉세이 쿠드린 재무장관이 11일 모스크바에서 이 협정에 서명했습니다.
이 협정은 현단계에서 이라크의 거의 모든 부채를 탕감해 주고, 앞으로 17년간에 걸쳐 약 9억달러를 상환하는 내용으로 돼 있습니다.
앞서 제바리 장관과 세르게이 라브로프 러시아 외무장관은 두 나라의 무역과 경제, 과학, 기술협력에 관한 한 비망록에 서명했습니다.
제바리 장관은 이라크의 안보가 개선되고 있으며, 정부가 국민화해정책을 추진하고 있다고 밝히고, 다른 나라들과의 관계도 진전되고 있다고 말했습니다.
라브로프 장관과 러시아의 기업들은, 앞으로 이라크의 재건사업에 적극 참여하게 되기를 희망하고 있습니다.

Russia has agreed to forgive nearly all of Iraq's almost 13 billion dollar Soviet-era debt.
Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari and Russia's Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin signed the deal in Moscow today (Monday). The agreement provides for canceling the debt in stages and for repayment of about 900-million dollars over 17 years.
Earlier, Zebari and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov signed a memorandum on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation.
Zebari said security in his country has improved, the government is developing a national reconciliation policy and noted progress in ties with other countries.
Lavrov said Russian companies hope to become actively involved in the reconstruction of Iraq, following the U.S.-led 2003 invasion of that country. Kudrin said Russia could invest as much as four-billion dollars in Iraq.
