아마디네자드 대통령은 이 날 이란 이슬람 혁명 29주기를 맞은 집회에서 연설을 갖고 이같이 밝혔습니다.
수십만명의 구준이 모인 가운데 열린 이날 집회에서 많은 사람들은 '미국의 죽음'이라는 구호를 외쳤습니다. 아마디네자드 대통령은 서방세계가 이란의 핵 계획 포기를 종용하는 데 대해 종이조각을 갖고 놀고 있다고 표현했습니다.
이란은 남부 부세르에 첫번째 핵 발전소를 건설 중입니다. 미국과 서방 동맹국들은 이란이 핵 무기 개발을 위한 기술을 개발하고 있다며 비난해왔습니다. 이란 정부는 이같은 의혹을 부인해왔습니다.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says his country will not take seriously Western pressure to suspend its nuclear program. He spoke at a rally marking the 29th anniversary of the nation's Islamic revolution.
Tens of thousands of Iranians turned out today (Monday) to mark the anniversary, many of them chanting "death to America." In the capital, Tehran, Ahmadinejad told them that Western powers are only, in his words, "playing with paper" as they pressure Iran to give up its nuclear aims.
Iran has been building its first nuclear power plant near the southern city of Bushehr. The United States and its Western allies accuse Iran of developing nuclear technology to produce atomic weapons. Tehran denies the charge.
