U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates is in Baghdad on an unannounced visit for talks with U.S. commanders and Iraqi leaders.
Gates arrived in the Iraqi capital today (Sunday) from Germany, where he attended an international security conference.
The visit to Iraq comes a year after the United States sent 30-thousand additional troops to the country. Gates has said he hopes to reduce U.S. troop levels in Iraq over the course of this year.
