최근 중국에서 폭설로 인한 겨울철 농작물 피해로 인플레이션 우려가 더욱 커지고 있다고, 중국 농업 당국이 밝혔습니다.
첸 시웬 중국 농업상은 31일 베이징에서 가진 기자회견에서 중국 남부가 이미 매우 심각한 피해를 입었으며, 특히 과일과 채소 수확 상황은 '재앙적'이라고 말했습니다.
첸 시웬 농업상은 날씨에 따라 앞으로 피해규모가 더욱 커질 수 있다면서, 특히 한파가 북쪽으로 이동할 경우 곡물 공급에도 지장을 줄 것이라고 우려했습니다.
눈 피해가 심한 지역에서는 과일과 야채 가격이 이미 두 배로 뛰었습니다. 중국 정부는 지난해 물가가 5% 가까이 올랐으며, 12월에만 6.5% 인상했다고 밝혔습니다.
한편 중국 기상 당국은 중부 와 남부에 더 많은 눈과 비가 이어질 것으로 예상했습니다.

A top Chinese agricultural official says brutal winter storms in China are threatening food production, adding to the country's inflationary pressures.
Speaking to reporters today (Thursday) in Beijing, Chen Xiwen said the impact on crops in southern China was already extremely serious. He called the damage to fruit and fresh vegetable crops catastrophic.
Chen said it is still unclear what the full impact and losses will be, adding that would largely depend on the weather. He said the situation could worsen if storms move north and threaten winter grain supplies.
Prices of fresh fruit and vegetables have already doubled in some of the worst-hit areas. China's government says the country's consumer price index rose nearly five percent for all of 2007, and six-point-five percent in December alone.
Forecasters predict a new wave of harsh winter weather will begin today, bringing more snow and freezing rain to central and southern China.
