미 상원 금융위원회는 사회보장 연금을 수령하는 노인층을 포함해 소득에 상관없이 자격이 되는 모든 사람들에게5백 달러에서 1천달러를 환급해 주고, 실업 수당을 확대하는 방안 등을 포함하는 경기 부양책을 논의할 예정입니다.

Lawmakers in the U.S. Senate will consider an economic stimulus plan today (Wednesday) that is more expensive than one passed by the House of Representatives.
The House bill, passed on Tuesday, would give more than 100-million families tax rebates amounts ranging from 600 dollars to 12-hundred dollars, depending on income levels. The 146-billion dollar measure was passed after negotiations between the White House, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi -- a Democrat -- and Republican Leader John Boehner.
The Senate Finance Committee will consider a package that would give rebates between 500 to one-thousand dollars to all eligible Americans, regardless of income, including elderly Social Security recipients. It also includes an extension of unemployment benefits.
President Bush and Speaker Pelosi Tuesday urged the Senate to accept the House's version of the stimulus package.
