이라크 북부지역에서 2건의 폭탄공격이 발생해 12명이 숨지고 80여명이 다쳤다고, 이라크 경찰이 밝혔습니다.
경찰은 23일, 키르쿠크 시 인근의 한 시장에서 차량폭탄 공격이 일어났다고 말했습니다. 또 다른 폭탄공격은 모술의 주거지역에서 경찰이 한 건물 안에 무기가 은닉돼 있다고 경고한 후에 일어났습니다. 폭발물의 종류는 밝혀지지 않았습니다.
이밖에 바그다드 중부의 번화가에서는 무장괴한들이 총기를 난사해 3명의 이라크 군이 사망하고 적어도 1 명이 부상했다고 경찰이 밝혔습니다.
한편, 미군은 연합군이 중부와 북부 이라크에서 벌인 알카에다를 겨냥한 소탕작전에서 5명의 테러분자를 사살하고, 16명의 테러 용의자를 체포했다고 말했습니다.

Iraqi police say two explosions have killed 12 people and wounded about 80 in northern Iraq.
The police say a car bomb went off today (Wednesday) in a market near the city of Kirkuk. Another explosion took place in a residential area in the city of Mosul after police were tipped off to a weapons cache inside a building. It is not clear what triggered the explosion.
To the south, Iraqi security officials say three Iraqi soldiers were killed and at least one wounded when gunmen opened fire on them in a busy district in central Baghdad.
Meanwhile, the U.S. military says coalition forces have killed five terrorists and detained 16 suspects during operations targeting al-Qaida networks in central and northern Iraq.
