현지 관리들에 따르면 이 지역은 알카에다와 관련된 무장세력 지도자 바이툴라 메수드의 본거지입니다. 메수드는 지난달 27일 베나지르 부토 전 총리 암살 사건의 배후로 지목받고 있습니다.
한편 이와 별도로 스와트 발리 리조트에서도 군 순찰 차량을 노린 폭탄공격이 발생했지만, 사상자 발생 여부는 아직 알려지지 않고 있습니다.

Pakistan's military says hundreds of Islamic militants captured a remote paramilitary fort near the border with Afghanistan early today (Wednesday), after a fierce battle that killed seven soldiers and as many as 40 militants
A military spokesman (Major General Athar Abbas) said the fighting broke out late Tuesday when heavily armed militants attacked the fort (at Sararogha town) in South Waziristan tribal region.
The spokesman said 20 soldiers were missing and 15 others who escaped have reported to another base nearby.
Local officials say the region is a strong hold of an al-Qaida-linked militant leader, Baitullah Mehsud, who the government said was behind the December 27th assassination of former prime minister and opposition leader Benazir Bhutto in Rawalpindi.
Separately, a roadside bomb exploded as a military patrol passed by in the Swat Valley resort of North West Frontier Province, but there was no immediate report of casualties.
