납 페인트와 디자인 결함 등 안전에 대한 우려에 따라 수백만개의 중국산 장난감이 수거되는 사태가 벌어졌음에도 불구하고 중국정부는 지난 해 첫 10개월 동안 장난감 수출이 크게 증가했다고 밝혔습니다.
중국 관영 신화통신은 6일 지난 해 1월부터 10월까지의 기간동안 중국은 70여억 달러 상당의 장난감을 수출했으며, 이는 한 해 전인 2006년 같은 기간과 비교할 때 20 퍼센트 이상 늘어난 것이라고 말했습니다.
미국에 대한 수출은 2007년 첫 10개월 동안 한 해 전 같은 기간에 비해13퍼센트 이상 증가했다고 신화통신은 전했습니다.
지난 해 장난감에서부터 애완동물 먹이, 치약에 이르기까지 수백만 달러 상당의 중국 수출품에서 위험물질과 결함이 발견됨에 따라 중국산 제품은 세계 여러나라의 정밀 조사 대상이 되고 있습니다.

China says its toy exports surged in the first 10 months of last year, despite recalls of millions of units because of concerns about lead paint and design flaws.
State media reported today (Sunday) that in the period from January to October, China exported more than seven billion dollars worth of toys, an increase of over 20 percent from the same period in 2006.
The Xinhua news agency said exports to the United States rose more than 13 percent in the first 10 months of 2007 from a year earlier.
Exports from China came under international scrutiny last year after millions of exports, from toys to pet food to toothpaste, were found to have dangerous defects.
