지난 5일 그루지야에서 실시된 대통령 선거에서 조기 집계 결과 미하일 사카슈빌리 대통령이 승리한 것으로 나타난 가운데 6일 수천명의 야당 지지자들이 수도 트빌리시에서 대규모 시위를 벌였습니다.
야당 지지자들은 5일 선거과정에서 부정이 저질러졌으며, 선거운동 과정 또한 공정하지 못했다고 주장하고 있습니다.
그러나 유럽 안보협력기구 (OSCE) 가 파견한 국제 선거감시인단은 5일의 그루지야 대통령 선거는 대부분 국제기준에 부합되게 치러졌다고 말했습니다.
현재 8퍼센트 가량 개표가 진행된 가운데 사카슈빌리 현 그루지야 대통령이 56 퍼센트의 득표율을 보이고 있으며, 사카슈빌리 대통령의 최대 경쟁자인 레반 가체칠라드제 후보는23 퍼센트의 득표율로 2위를 달리고 있습니다.
출구조사 결과는 사카슈빌리 대통령이 과반수 이상의 지지를 얻어 결선투표를 피할 수 있을 것으로 나타났습니다.
국제 선거인단은 선거일 투표과정에서 큰 문제가 없었다고 인정했으나, 이번 선거운동 과정은 정치과정에 있어서 참가자들 간의 신뢰부족을 드러냈다고 말했습니다.

Thousands of opposition supporters have rallied in the Georgian capital to protest early election results that show Mikhail Saakashvili narrowly winning a second presidential term.
Opposition leaders claim Saturday's vote was rigged, and say the campaign leading to the polls was unfair. However, European poll monitors say the election met most international standards.
Official results today (Sunday) with about eight percent of the vote counted show Mr. Saakashvili carrying about 56 percent of the electorate. His nearest rival, Levan Gachechiladze, was winning about 23 percent. Exit polls also showed Mr. Saakashvili winning more than half of the vote, enough to avoid a run-off election.
While endorsing election-day procedures, observers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe said the campaign reflected a lack of trust in the political process among participants.
