의료진은 올해 86살의 수하르토 전 대통령의 심장기능이 너무 저하돼 피를 제대로 공급할 수 없는 상태라며 2차 심장박동 조절장치가 필요하다고 말했습니다.
32년간 인도네시아를 철권 통치했던 수하르토 전 대통령은 1998년 발생한 대규모 반정부 민주화 시위로 대통령직에서 물러난 후 자택과 병원을 오가며 투병생활을 해 왔습니다. 수하르토 대통령은 통치 기간 중 수백만 달러를 불법 축적한 혐의로 비난을 받아왔습니다.

Indonesia's current president, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, and his wife visited Mr. Suharto today (Saturday) at Pertamina Hospital, where he was admitted Friday. Doctors say the 86-year-old former dictator's heart has become too weak to pump blood properly, and that he needs a second pacemaker.
Mr. Suharto ruled Indonesia for 32 years, stepping down in 1998 after widespread demonstrations and rioting during the Asian economic crisis. He has since lived quietly in an upscale district of central Jakarta.
The former president has been accused of illegally amassing hundreds of millions of dollars during his time as president. The anti-corruption organization Transparency International says Mr. Suharto embezzled an estimated 15 to 35 billion dollars. He has steadfastly denied such accusations, and his poor health has kept him from facing criminal trials.
